New Safety Requirements for Power Batteries in Electric Vehicles
From July 1st, two mandatory national standards "safety requirements for electric vehicles" (GB18384-2025)(referred to as "new national standard for safety of electric vehicles") and "safety requirements for power batteries for electric vehicles" (GB38031-2025)(Hereinafter referred to as "new national standard for batteries") will be officially implemented.
# Electric vehicles are forced to install a one-click power-off physical device# The new national standard for electric vehicle safety requires the physical disconnection of the high-voltage circuit between the vehicle's high-voltage circuit or the drive system and the rechargeable energy storage system, for the first time, the "one-click power-off" device is defined as a physical power-off device, which completely replaces the previous power-off mode that relies on software control and improves the reliability and timeliness of accident rescue. At the same time, the vehicle is required to respond to this function through one action (touch and long Press) of the driver under static non-charging and discharging conditions.
# New National Standard requirements power Battery no fire, no explosion# The new national standard of Battery further defines the battery temperature requirements to be tested, the state of power up and down, the observation time, the test conditions of the whole vehicle, and the technical requirements from then on, provide thermal event alarm signals 5 minutes before explosion, adjust to no fire, no explosion (still need to alarm), smoke does not cause damage to passengers, etc.; Add bottom impact test, check the protection ability after the bottom of the battery is impacted; Add safety test after fast charge cycle, and conduct external short circuit test after 300 fast charge cycles, requiring no fire, no explosion, etc.
